What a week!! Katie

~
Wow, what a week. As it is every year at the end of the school year. Finishing up, we got it all done!! We were doing the "happy dance" last night as Katie graduated from High School; her journey has been hard, each grade a victory. Some kids go through school with no effort, some excel and some fight everyday to make it. We so proud of you Katie!!

Sassy!

Friends

So Happy!!!

Yea!! You did it!!

It is very traditional to wear a flower lei at graduation, here they take it even further, we have a large Polynesian influence, and with my son in law being Tongan, Tua's Aunt fashioned these amazing candy leis for Katie. They really only want the kids to wear one lei at graduation but after they showered with leis. Some are made out of money, candy and treats, some will get so many you can hardly see their face.

It's Prom - 2010

Every year in High School tradition there are the sports, activities and the dances. Here you see two beautiful girls all dressed up to enjoy their High School Prom like many girls across the US. But there is so much more behind these pictures. First of all, it’s a first for us to have two girls going at the same time. (These are daughters 4 & 5) Sierra turned “16” in March so she was old enough to go when she was asked.

Another fact is my husband is a General Contractor, a business that has been hit really hard with the recession. Things are always tight anyway with a family our size, there is always that concern deep in your heart (do we have the money?) You want your children to be able to do all they can and enjoy the fun stuff of youth.

 Keyan & Sierra
Here is the part that touches my heart.

My girls have such an amazing group of friends, both of these dress are borrowed from those friends, the one Sierra is wearing the young lady had never worn herself yet. Big sister Alissa did the hair and make up and big sister Kristen made the boutonnieres. My girls have always been so sensible about these things. Another thing I love, is that they are modest and they choose to be. This mother's heart is full tonight.

Katie is the 2009 Homecoming Queen for Provo High School

Katie & Sierra danced at halftime at the football game with the Ballroom Team

Okay, we all know how this works, there always seems to be the "it" crowd that are picked for these kind of things. You know like the Captain of the Cheerleading Team and the Captain of the Football Team. This year was different, people from the outside of the normal "clique" were chosen.

Two amazing young people who are good and kind with big hearts. As they announced Katie's name the crowd erupted, then started chanting her name. I am so happy for her. What an honor to be voted by your peers.

Katie Williams & David Wilcox

Katie is wearing a vintage 1950's prom dress on a
crinoline slip, it's the real deal. With all vintage jewelry,
she looked so pretty out there.
