Softball 2010

Along with dance my girls love playing softball (Sierra's favorite sport is basketball). This year was a little tricky because of the weather it's has been cold and rainy most of the season, not very fun to play softball in. Katie is a senior and at the last game they highlight the seniors and we only had three of them this year. Go Lady Bulldogs!

End of the Year Ballroom Concert - Katie & Sierra

Hard to believe we have coming to the end of another school year. Here are some pictures from the Spring Ballroom Concert over the weekend. It has been fun to have Sierra and Katie on the Varsity Ballroom Team together, Katie has been on the Varsity Team all four years of High School and Katie and Kristen were on the Varsity Team together too. What a Ballroom Team?? Yes, here in Utah where we live (it's a ballroom mecca.) Almost all of the high schools, middle schools and now elementary schools have some kind of ballroom program. It's great to teach these kids how to dance and expose them to all kinds of music. The girls have had another busy year with competitions, concerts, Nationals and tour. It takes a big commitment to do this.

Voyage Through Time: This Is The Place!

As fourth graders you learn about the state history of the state you live in. Our elementary school has a great play/musical that they do teaching the children about the History of Utah.
From
Dinosaurs
American Indians -
(Ute, Paiute, Goshute, Shoshone and Navajo)
Trappers, Traders, & Explorers
Pioneers & Cowboys
Mining & Railroads
Statehood & the Progressive Era
And Utah today.

With all my kids, (this is number 7 & 8), this was the best school production I have seen. With props, mics, back drops, live music, great costumes, dance, with a well written script. The children were so well prepared. It was wonderful!! Great job!! To the directors and all who worked on it, Great job!! That was a lot of 4th graders to teach and direct in such a way. I could feel how proud the kids were of themselves for a job WELL done.

How do you measure success? Sometimes its so private no one ever knows the things that you have been through to bring you to a moment, to that place. We can be proud of our children and of the things they do, but when you know how hard the battle has been, your heart is even fuller for many reasons.

Last year at this time, we were in a very different place, Shelby was in a different place.

Shelby’s making the lead in her middle school musical was wonderful, not that she doesn’t have the talent this girl can sing!! It was a triumph in ever measure.

Shelby was Annie, in the middle school’s version of Annie Jr. The play ran for 3 nights. April 5, 6 & 8, 2010. She did an amazing job.

It's not just all about dance - Softball too!!

We love the game of softball; my five oldest girls have played on softball teams. It's just not all about dance in this family. Katie & Sierra played on the softball teams for Provo High School. These girls play hard and they are not afraid to get dirty and to take one for the team!
